Match Report – Vorarlberg RUFC vs. TSV 1846 Nürnberg
Date: 05/04/2025
Location: Weiler
Final Score: Vorarlberg RUFC 41 – 22 TSV 1846 Nürnberg
The first match of the year kicked off in perfect conditions in Weiler, with almost a full squad showing up at Tuesday’s training, clearly fired up for Saturday's clash. The team’s determination to open the season on the right foot was obvious from the get-go.
The game started with an early challenge – Nürnberg got the first two tries on the board. With no conversions, we were down 0–10, but the response was immediate. Hans, with a sprint that could’ve made Usain Bolt jealous, charged through for our opening try. Yannick slotted the conversion, bringing us to 7–10.
From there, the momentum shifted. Max powered over for our second try, again converted by Yannick, putting us ahead 14–10. Solid defence, clean execution of pods, and excellent team organisation showed that the match was turning in our favour.
Dominant scrums, sharp lineouts ?, and electric pace from the backs opened up the game. The tries came flooding in — Tom, Johannes, Roman, and Mike (on his debut!) all crossed the line, with successful conversions to follow. It was a complete team effort, and the final score reflected the performance: a clean, confident 41–22 win and a vital five points added to the table.
Special shoutouts go to Benedikt and Mike for impressive debut performances — we’re excited to see what the rest of the season holds for both of them.
Huge thanks to everyone who made this match day possible:
